posted Oct 12, 2018, 4:54 PM by Dan Walton   [ updated Nov 14, 2018, 1:53 PM ]

November 16th - 18th, 2018

Our first campout of 2018 will be at Kelly Park in Apopka, Florida!

We will enjoy camping together in adjacent group sites, sharing most meals, and enjoying Rock Springs, adjacent to our campsite!   At Rock Springs, families can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, tubing down the Rock Springs Run, or even taking the run without a tube!

Packing - With the Pack, camping is easy.  We have a LOT of supplies.  To see packing lists, to to our Camping Page.

Directions - For a map to Kelly Springs - Click Here, or simly Navigate to the bottom of this page.   There are several route options.  Upon arrival, don't go through the main gate.  Rather go to a chain-link gated entrance just to the North.  If it is locked, cal Dan Walton, Kim McMillan, or Dan McMillan.   Phone numbers are on the  "Meet the Leaders" page.

Fees & Payments - Camping fees will be $6/person and will cover 1 or 2 nights.  Children 5 and under are free.   Costs for coming just for the day are $3/person.   To pay for the campout (and any meals), you use Paypal to pay through a bank card or credit card.  If this doesn't work for you, just go through the registration process and don't follow through with Paypal.  Then remit payment to a leader prior to the deadline.

Pack Meals - The Pack offers the following meals at a highly discounted price.  If the food choice doesn't work for your diet, you may bring a supplement, or opt out.  However, it's best to be a part of the fellowship & fun of preparing meals together if you're able.   Here are the meals:
  • Friday Snack - $1.00 - A small campfire fun snack
  • Sat Breakfast - $2.50 - Pancakes, Sausage, Bagels & Cream Cheese, Fruits, Juices, Coffee
  • Sat Lunch - Not Provided - Since we'll be at Rock Springs, each family may choose to either use the concession stand for food (burgers & dogs), or bring sandwiches for your family
  • Sat Dinner - $4.00 - Trash Can Turkey, Green beans, Baked Potatoes, Bread, Salad, Iced Teas, Cobblers
  • Sun Breakfast - $2.50 - Breakfast Burritos (form your own), bagels with cream cheeses, sausage, juices
NOTE:  You MUST provide for your own families lunch on Saturday, as we will be at Rock Springs.  You may use the concession stand (great burgers & dogs), or bring a cooler with sandwiches.

Tube Rental - If you wish to rent tubes, you have to go OFF SITE at several locations. A few we've used is "Rock Springs Bar&Grill" and "Rons".  We'll try to have one of our leaders go out and make a run for anyone wanting a tube.

Arrival Information - HERE is  map with directions on arrival.  See directions to the park above.

Park Map - HERE

Questions - Please email or call Assistant Cubmaster Marie Higbie, or Secretary Kim McMillan.  Their contacts are on the "Meet the Leaders" page.

Registration - To attend, families must register and pay by midnight on Tuesday, November 13th.  This will allow us time to purchase the food.
